Tara is an Associate Lawyer at MacDonald & Associates, an employment law firm in Toronto specializing in Canadian Employment Law for both employees and employers.
Tara is an experienced, innovative litigator whose early success has brought her national recognition across the legal industry. Despite only being called to the Bar in 2017, Tara argued her first trial in December 2017, and by January 2018 was known as a ‘visionary’ and ‘innovator’ throughout the industry.
In January 2018, Tara was renowned as the first Canadian lawyer to serve a Statement of Claim using the social media app, Instagram. Her innovative approach to law was quickly endorsed by the legal community, and she was featured in Canadian Lawyer Magazine, Above the Law, Globe Legal Post, Droit-Inc and on CBC, as well as profiled on the front page of the Law Times.
Tara’s acute passion for employment litigation and technology brought her to MacDonald & Associates in early 2018. Tara is dedicated to advocating for her clients, from negotiation to trial, and has successfully appeared before the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Justice, and the Provincial Offences Court.
Prior to joining MacDonald & Associates, Tara worked as a litigator for a large downtown boutique law firm, where she carried complex subrogation and commercial litigation files. Tara has represented clients successfully through all stages of the litigation process.
Tara completed her articles at a large national firm located in downtown Ottawa. While doing so, Tara wrote a book critiquing the federal government’s ‘CSIS’ Bill, which was then published by the Éditions Universitaires Européens, in 2017.
Tara received her J.D. and LL.L. from the University of Ottawa in 2016. As one of 19 students selected to obtain two law degrees in three years, entirely in French, Tara became well-versed in Canadian common law and civil law, and today is fluently bilingual and qualified to practice law across the entire world.
Tara obtained her Honours Bachelor of Arts from York University in 2013, in Law and Society and Political Science. Her acute passion and curiosity for the law peaked early on in her studies, and in 2012, she spent a semester studying Greek Civil Law in Thessaloniki, Greece.
While obtaining her J.D. and LL.L., Tara worked for leading legal research corporation, LexisNexis Canada.
In her spare time, Tara loves keeping active and spending time with her family and friends. She is an avid traveler, and published a novel on her travel perspectives in 2016.
