Geoffrey Lowe is an Associate at MacDonald & Associates, a boutique employment law firm in Toronto specializing in Canadian Employment Law for both employers and employees. Geoffrey advises both employers and employees in all areas of employment law. He works closely with employers to draft, update, and implement human resources policies and procedures.
Before attending law school Geoffrey worked in various capacities in human resources. Amongst other things, this included building and operating a human resources department at a national security firm, and working as an employee representative for COTAPSA, the Municipal Management Association for non-union staff at the City of Toronto. During law school he worked as a research analyst at HR Downloads, where he was responsible for drafting human resources policies and procedures, and updates on employment law for clients across Canada.
Geoffrey is a dedicated advocate for his client’s interests, and has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Justice, and the Ontario Small Claims court. He articled at a prominent London, Ontario litigation firm where he was responsible for assisting with all aspects of the civil litigation process.
A prolific writer, Geoffrey’s work has been published in Canadian Employment Law Today and has been selected to appear in the employment law section of Mondaq’s distribution service. Geoffrey has assisted Natalie C. MacDonald, owner and founder of MacDonald & Associates, with the torts chapter research for the forthcoming edition of her leading textbook, Extraordinary Damages in Canadian Employment Law.
Additionally, Geoffrey is Editor-in-Chief of the MacDonald & Associates’ Facebook page, providing general information on relevant and important employment law.
Geoffrey obtained his Juris Doctor at Western Law. Prior to law school he attended the University of Guelph, obtaining his Honours Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Public Policy. Between university and law school he attended George Brown College, obtaining his post-graduate diploma in Human Resources Management. He was called to the Ontario bar in 2016. Geoffrey is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada as well as the Ontario and Canadian Bar Associations.
In his free time Geoffrey enjoys weightlifting, cooking, and training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, in which he holds a blue belt.
